Zephyranthes robustus is a native Rain Lily of Central America which has naturalized as far north as North Carolina. In August its six-petal pink flowers emerge to a height of 6 in. from narrow straps of dark green foliage. True to its common name, it often blooms right after a good rain storm. It thrives in moist, well-drained soil and likes sun to partial shade and is one of the most prolific of Rain Lilies.  If there is no space in the garden, it works well as a container plant.
