Zephyranthes candida The Rain Lily is a native of South America which has naturalized as far north as North Carolina. White daisy-like flowers emerge in August from 1 ft. tall narrow straps of dark green foliage. True to its common name, it often blooms right after a good soaking shower. It thrives in moist, well-drained soil and likes sun to part-shade. If there is no space in the garden, it works well as a container plant. Deer don’t bother it.
