Tulip clusiana var. chrysantha  is a species tulip unlike the more familiar larger hybrid tulips and is better for southern gardens. Species tulips have less need than hybrids for prolonged cold winters enabling them to return year after year. Its flowers are bright yellow with outer petals in red on the exterior side. This adorable 8 to 10 in. tall tulip does beautifully in borders, beds and rock gardens as well as potted arrangements.
