Small but elegant, ‘Cynthia’, often called Lady Tulip, is a lovely bi-color species tulip which sends up eye-catching pale yellow flowers delicately flamed rose-red. Species tulips are best for the southern garden. Blossoms are completely open on sunny days forming a perfect six-pointed star. Growing up to 10 in. tall, ‘Cynthia’ naturalizes easily and will form large colonies with each passing year. It performs best in full sun to light shade in rich, medium-moist, well-drained soil. Unlike its bigger and taller hybrid tulip cousins, it is deer resistant.
