Lycoris radiata ‘Spider Lily’ is also known as ‘New Bern Lily’ and is our signature bulb. You will find it in our bulb sale every year. The long-lived flowers that bloom in the fall were brought from Japan to New Bern by Captain William Willis Roberts in the 1850’s as a gift to his wife Elizabeth. The flower spikes reach 18 in. high and love well-drained soil and partial shade. These wonderful coral-red flowers are a welcome addition to any garden and often form colonies over the years.
