Hyacinths are a hallmark of the mid-season garden. The color is gorgeous (think Delft china) and, as if that is not enough, they have the most amazing fragrance. Plant them in full sun to part shade, force in pots, add to a window box or plant as a border along a well-traveled walkway. They bloom in April and are 10 to 14 in. tall on very sturdy stems. Deer seldom bother them.
