Hedychium coronarium: The 6-ft. tall “Ginger Lily” is common in tropical Asia but quite hardy in our area as well. The flowers are fragrant white butterflies which perfume the late summer evenings. It prefers medium to wet soils and full sun to part-shade. It will spread slowly by rhizomes and also makes a great stunning addition to a container garden.
